Rural Architectural Intensification.

Rural Architectural Intensification is an innovative design action for architecture and urban design. This operative action fosters the regeneration of the contemporary city-landscape through the construction of a new design paradigm committed to sustainability. R.A.I.’s keywords are:
Rural as environment of high quality with richness of history, values, memory;
Architecture as a process and construction product, which can create social, cultural, economic and technological innovation;
Intensification as a strategy for creates sustainable density in which rural-urban environment coexists harmoniously.
Agro-Techno Village. Sustainable intensification of rural landscape for Milan Expo 2015.

The research is realized through an experiment project on an area located in the East boundary of Milan City. The name of the project is “The Agro-Techno Village”. This project wants to combine the words technology and agriculture in a sort of mutual exchange and hybridization with the aim to create reconciliation between production, nature and urban landscape. The “agri-landscape” is nowadays representing the real contemporary landscape. The agri-landscape is a space of experimentation in which to operate through creative design oriented to a figurative quality scenario full of complexities.

The project is focused on seeking new design strategies based on the tradition in evolution of Chinese contemporary rural villages. The project takes on the issue of regeneration focusing on tradition and evolution of typologies. To this end, the project identifies an operative process of architectural design that aims to regenerate the village into uses that are suitable for contemporary ways of living.
The project combines the words Typology + Landscape = Typoscape in a sort of mutual exchange and hybridization with the aim to create reconciliation between traditional material (bamboo), handcraft makers skill, nature and landscape.
